UNIVERSITY OF NEW ORLEANS (UNO) HOUSING
MMI provided the structural and civil engineering services for the construction of two new four-story housing facilities totaling 220,000 square feet with parking for 200 vehicles on the site. The facilities are constructed of structural steel with a composite metal truss and concrete slab system for the floor framing spanning between load bearing metal stud walls. The metal studs were designed in conjunction with the manufacturer to allow for the walls to be prefabricated in panels and the modules installed and connected in the field. This greatly decreased construction time. The roof is light gauge steel trusses with a standing seam metal roof. The façade is constructed of brick, stone, and insulated glass.
There are 236 housing units for a total of 749 beds. The units include four-bedroom, two-bedroom, and one-bedroom units.
