LSU BUSINESS EDUCATION COMPLEX
MMI provided the structural engineering services for the new Business Education Complex which houses Louisiana State University’s E.J. Ourso School of Business. The 157,000 square foot complex features 37,000 square feet of advanced classrooms with technology to facilitate world-class teaching and learning. The design blends modern glass, metal, and stone with sloped gabled roofs and arches to reflect LSU’s historic Italianate style and unique beauty.
Using state of the art software, MMI produced an economical and efficient structural design for the four buildings and interconnecting pedestrian bridges, using structural steel framing at the roof and elevated floor levels, and reinforced concrete framing for the first floor and foundations. The four story, cylindrically shaped, main focal building, contains a three-story atrium with a suspended classroom.
