HOLY CROSS UNIVERSITY STUDENT DORMITORY
Morphy, Makofsky, Inc. provided structural and civil engineering services for this four-story, 60,000 square ft. student residential building. The building is designed with load bearing metal stud walls and supplemental structural steel to provide larger open spans at the first floor. The floor system consists of light weight precast concrete planks that bear directly on the load bearing walls. The roof consists of cold formed light gage steel roof trusses.
The civil scope of work consisted of new sidewalk and parking to connect to the existing facility construction, all new building tie-ins to city utilities, and a storm water management system. The storm water management consisted of grass swale and underground retention systems to accommodate the volume of water retention required by the city code ordinance.
