MMI provided the structural engineering services for the new Palmisano Group headquarters, located in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans. Encompassing over 30,000 square feet, the two story building has the option for an additional two story vertical expansion. The design uses an open work flow concept that minimizes small office space and includes amenities such as an in-house gym and yoga studio, a large outdoor terrace, and green space. MMI made this open style design possible by using composite steel beams with a 5 ¼” floor system consisting of lightweight concrete on a 2” composite metal floor deck. This allowed for a greater beam spacing which resulted in an economic and efficient design that permitted longer spans and a quick erection of the building.
