MMI provided the structural design for the renovation of the main entrance and Hall A of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. Columns were removed to make a larger, more open room in Hall A. Renovations to the foundation were made to support the removal of columns. Additional segmented pipe piles were driven to support extra loads at the new column locations. Existing pile caps were replaced with new ones that would cover the existing piles as well as the newly driven ones. Additional structural designs were implemented for the renovation of the main entrance.
