TRI-CENTENNIAL PLAZA
MMI provided the structural design for the renovations to Spanish Plaza on the New Orleans Mississippi River Front. Originally completed in 1976 along the Canal St. Wharf, Spanish Plaza was dedicated to the City of New Orleans by Spain. The new renovations to the plaza will commemorate the City of New Orleans’s 300th anniversary and will revitalize the area with a new landmark fountain.
This $7.5 million project is part of a series of projects to develop and improve the New Orleans riverfront. MMI provided the designs for the structural steel framing supporting the new fountain, which utilized the existing precast concrete pile foundations from the original wharf. Additionally, MMI provided designs to support new planters and walkway ramps along the new plaza.
