GERT TOWN NATATORIUM

MMI provided the structural designs for the new Gert Town Natatorium. This facility is replacing the old Gert Town Natatorium that was demolished in 2011 after sustaining severe damage from Hurricane Katrina. The 15,000 square foot building will house a 25 yard, six lane competition swimming pool as well as a community plaza, locker rooms, and a snack bar. The Natatorium is located next to the new 2nd District Station for the New Orleans Police Department, with which it will share its community plaza. One of the unique aspects of the Natatorium is the curved trusses with a clear span of 90’ used to support the roof system over the length of pool.
