MMI has worked with a handful of developers over the years to study and analyze the Plaza Tower for the purpose of bringing the building back into commerce. The studies that were done focused on converting the 44-story building into residential use, such as condominiums and apartments, as well as retail. Our office performed a full walk-through of the building after Hurricane Katrina. We performed numerous analyses using a full 3-D computer model of the building. We developed a set of documents that could be used from a pricing standpoint. These documents included plans, elevations, details, etc. of the framing required to address the building’s structural concerns.
