Morphy Makofsky, Inc. provided the structural and
foundation design for this 26-story 450 room hotel, restaurant and
nearly 6,800 square feet of meeting rooms. The building structure
consists of 27 elevated post-tensioned concrete decks. The
foundation required 700 linear feet of sheet piling and more than
4,000 cubic yards of concrete. More than 250 steel pipe piles
were also driven, some more than 200 feet deep. The ground
floor and foundations are all cast in place conventionally reinforced
sections such as pile caps, elevator pits, grade beams and shear
walls including all columns. The upper floors were framed as
a two way cast in place 8” thick post tensioned slab. Some
upper minor areas were designed as conventionally reinforced members
such as framing around openings such as stairwells.
