Morphy Makofsky, Inc. provided the foundation
design for the precast 4-story 1,006 car parking garage, a helical
ramp, a 2-story cruise terminal within the limits of a parking
structure, sitework together with all the required miscellaneous
and incidental work.
The cruise terminal consists of a 6 story precast
concrete structure. MMI
was responsible for the design of the first level down to and including
the foundation of the entire terminal structure. MMI designed
the structure to be supported on 14” and 20” diameter
pipe piles driven approximately 100 deep in depth. A steel
sheet pile bulk head was designed and installed to restore the box
levee. Bank stabilization was required due to the low factors
of safety. All the pile caps are cast in place conventionally
reinforced concrete. The first floor area at grade was pile
supported and conventionally reinforced.
MMI was responsible for reviewing the existing
wharf and for modifications to accommodate the required passenger
loading facilities.
